ABSTRACT: SEIU Healthcare NW Training Partnership and Health Benefit Trust are two trusts established to train and develop professional long-term care workers to deliver high quality care and to champion innovative health care programs and coverage that improve the health of long-term care workers so they can deliver high quality care. In this talk, we will feature multiple engineering and  data mining projects that are undergoing in the organization to support our care providers. Sample projects include analytical datawarehouse development, turnover predictive modeling, and intelligent matching service technology. PRESENTER BIOS
Mike Knoll
Director, Technology Solutions
People follow interesting paths in their careers and lives. Mike never saw himself specifically as a Director of Technology Solutions; he was looking for an opportunity to be a part of an organization which was making a positive impact on people’s lives. With several years of working in technology and volunteering in educational arenas, coming to the Training Partnership and Health Benefits Trust is a perfect stop on Mike’s path. Mike enjoys taking the big picture and working with teams to determine, outline, and implement technology which optimizes, enables, and improves the service being provided to our customers. Outside of work, Mike spends time with his family, coaches volleyball, mentors high school and college students, and watches improv shows whenever possible.
 
Mike Roshak, Ph.D.
Data Architect, Technology Solutions
Mike’s career and education has spanned the gamut.  While going from GED to PhD Mike has had jobs that reflect his journey.  Mike has been a factory worker, soldier, software developer, and is currently working as a Systems Architect for SEIU.  Giving back to the community is important to Mike. He runs the Seattle GiveCamp a non-profit that helps charities with IT needs.  During his time off he enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and running.
 
Si-Chi Chin, Ph.D.
Senior Researcher
Si-Chi aspires to use data to inform healthcare decision making and improve healthcare practices, turning data into actionable knowledge. As Senior Researcher, she is responsible for researching, developing, launching, and evaluating new products and services. Prior to this position, she was a postdoctoral researcher at Center of Data Science at University of Washington-Tacoma. Si-Chi received her Ph.D. in Informatics from the University of Iowa and have extensive experience specializing in storing, analyzing, and visualizing large-scale biomedical and health data. Born in Taipei, Taiwan, she received a dual B.A. in law and political science, and an M.A. in sociology from National Taiwan University.  Si-Chi enjoys visual arts and the breathtaking natural landscapes in the northwest. She loves watching living plants grow and the smell of cooking food.
